2001-2005

The F-35 Lightning II Joint Strike Fighter
The F35 started taking over the F35 aircraft requirements due to cost.

These years were big for FCX. The F35 Raptor was just being designed and we were the first approved makers of 270VDC and PC Air for this aircraft at Edwards AFB and Lockheed Martin at Ft. Worth. We worked closely with both customers and were (and still are) the premier supplier of both PC Air and 270VDC.

Also during this period, the 270VDC started to be used with stealth aircraft because DC current is not detected by radar like AC current. With the increasing amount of regulation required, PC Air became a special product as well.  PC Air is high pressure, ultra dry air using 100% ambient air, dehumidifying, and delivering near 6 PSI.

2005

400 Hz Shipboard Power (Deepwater National Security Cutter)
FCX Systems awarded for delivery of Shipboard 400hz Power for the U.S. Coast Guard Deep Water Project with Northrop Grumman.

2004

F-35 Joint Strike Fighter
Following design development with Navy FCX Systems received an order for the first ten 270 Volt DC power units for F-35 Joint Strike Fighter to be installed in the Test and Evaluation Hangar 2133 NAS Patuxent River, MD.

400 Hz Shipboard Power (LPD and DDG)
FCX Systems awarded for delivery of Shipboard 400hz Power for the U.S. Navy Dock Landing Ship (LPD) and Northrop Grumman’s Guided Missile Destroyer (DDG) programs.

2003

Patriot Missile Air Defense System / Operation Iraqi Freedom
Patriot Missile Air Defense systems were militarily deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. FCX’s 400 Hz power units, designed and tested with Raytheon, were delivered with the systems to provide sustained, reliable, stable power for the defense systems.

2002

AC/DC/PC air Combo
Coined by the customer as “External APU’s”, FCX Systems began manufacture of  the world’s most efficient (green) PC Air units., which are packaged with the aircraft’s need for 400 Hz and/or 28 volt DC power.   These units can be supplied as bridge mounted electric units, trailer mounted diesel units or truck mounted diesel units. Bridge mounted units install like a typical PC Air unit combining multiple pieces of equipment and accessories into one package.  This simplifies installation and provides an aesthetic improvement on the bridge as well.  The combo diesel units greatly reduce GSE clutter around an aircraft.  The single engine reduces noise, pollution and maintenance requirements while providing all the power and air requirements for the aircraft.
