1987-90
FCX was the first manufacturer of the modern 400 Hz converter. The pioneer. In 1984 this was a significant jump in technology that set FCX apart from the competition. We used distribution networks originally to get our product to the customer. Two of these companies are now our competitors. We sold them the technology first.
1990
FCX was responsible for the largest solid-state 400hz system in the world: 1250 KVA.
1987
The first 312KVA solid-state converter
A 312KVA is now a standard size unit for central system designs. This is when several 312KVA units (250 kW) are paralleled together to make at one location and then the power is distributed as 575VAC to gate box/line drop compensates at each parking/gate position where the 575VAC is changed to aircraft acceptable power. While standard technology now, FCX was the first to make this size well before it was done by anyone else. We've continued to push the envelope on size through the years making us #1 in the size category.
FCX Engineers and co-founders Allen Wright and Matt Howell designed the first solid-state 400 Hz converters for the commercial aviation industry.
